UltraScan in a Box - The perfect solution for research
laboratories with stringent data security needs where proprietary
research data must be protected in closed IT environments and
external supercomputers are not an option. UltraScan in a
Box is built on an expandable HPC configuration which is
matched to your analysis throughput needs. The base configuration
of UltraScan in a Box features a 64-core, 512 GB Linux
server which functions like a regular supercomputer. It includes
all components of UltraScan required for parallel distributed
optimization and analysis: A PBS batch queuing system, a LIMS
web server interface, a MySQL database backend as well as a GUI
interface for visualization and report preparation. THe base system
is configured with a 4 TB RAID-5 storage array for redundant
storage of experimental data.
- UltraScan in a Box - Option 1:
The base system can be easily expanded to any desired throughput
by adding additional compute blades, providing capacity for
parallel execution workflows and global experimental data fitting.
Compute nodes are diskless expansion modules providing additional
RAM and CPUs. All blades are interconnected via gigabit ethernet.
- UltraScan in a Box - Option 2:
Redundancy solutions are essential when 24/7 operation
is required. Redundancy is achieved with a second,
identically configured server that provides 64 additional
compute nodes to achieve twice the performance of the
base system under normal operating conditions. In case of
hardware failure, the surviving system is transparantly
configured to operate in standalone mode, providing a
nominal compute power equivalent to the UltraScan in
a Box base system. Each system uses MySQL replication
to provide near real-time synchronization of all database transactions
across the two systems.

UltraScan Software - UltraScan represents the most advanced
analytical ultracentrifugation Data analysis software available
to the researcher. It features a comprehensive environment for
the investigation of macromolecular solution properties, and
provides advanced algorithms for optimization which are enabled
on parallel computing platforms for maximum throughput and
unrivaled resolution and analysis speed. UltraScan specializes
in the analysis of sedimentation velocity data, employing the
most accurate and efficient adaptive finite element solutions
for the most demanding applications. UltraScan provides time-
and radially-invariant noise subtraction, modeling of reversibly
interacting and non-interaction systems, handles co-sedimenting
solutes and other non-ideality conditions. UltraScan is available
at no cost for non-commercial and academic use, a commercial
license is available for for-profit institutions.

Cloud Hosting - AUC Solutions now offers commercial grade
cloud-based hosting for high-performance AUC analysis and data
storage of LIMS databases with AUC data. Our supercomputer
cloud is based on the latest generation of multi-core Intel
Haswell processors for maximum performance in UltraScan. Please
contact us for a quote if you need
high-speed/high-throughput AUC analysis.

Optima AUC Integration - The new Optima AUC offered
through Beckman Coulter offers direct integration of the
AUC instrument with the UltraScan software. This integration
eliminates intermediate disk storage of AUC data on client
computers in ASCII format. All data are stored in the UltraScan
LIMS system, and directly imported into the OpenAUC binary format
used in UltraScan. Just as the Linux computer on the Optima
AUC stores the data in binary format, so does UltraScan. This
also eliminates information loss incurred with ASCII conversion
and assures much faster transfer rates than are possible with
ASCII storage. Another benefit from avoiding data storage on a
client computer is that all data are protected from undesirable
third-party manipulation that are possible when the data
are simply stored on a disk. LIMS storage is protected from
unauthorized access through database roles and authentication.
